چکیده

Artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.), a medicinal plant with high economic value, contains levels of phenolic compounds; especially cynarine, which plays an important role in preventing cancer, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and neurodegeneration, etc. Currently, micropropagation has achieved some success; however, the rooting efficiency plantlet quality are still limited. In this study, improving related to shoot suitable substrates vitro stage was studied on “Violetta” (VA) “Green Globe” (GA). The results showed that shoots (1.5 cm) cultured MS medium supplemented 0.5 mg/L KIN were most multiplication VA number shoots/explant (3.67 shoots), ≥ 2 cm (3 shoots); while, 1.0 BA GA (5.33 shoots; 5.00 respectively) after 4 weeks culture. Besides, improved using 8 g/L commercial agar for VA; meanwwhile, 3 gelrite GA. addition, nylon bag culture system (120 mm × 250 mm) potential production (15 plants/bag) can be applied large scale micropropagation. plantlets derived from gave good acclimatization, growth development 8, 12 20 cultivating at green house conditions.

In Vitro Callogenesis and Agrobacterium-Mediated Transformation of Globe Artichoke

Micropropagation techniques have been widely applied in globe artichoke (C. cardunculus L. var. scolymus), however, efficient protocols for the establishment of in vitro callogenesis and organogenesis, a pre-requisite for Agrobacteriummediated genetic transformation, have not been set up so far. We developed an efficient protocol for callus induction from leaf explants of three globe artichoke ...

Water sorption isotherms of globe artichoke leaves

One third of the artichoke production is used in industrial processes, where up to 70% 85% of the initial raw material is transformed into solid wastes. For an adequate management of these wastes, it is necessary to know their water sorption properties, because physical, chemical and biological changes which occur during their storage depend on water-solid interactions. The objectives of this w...

The genome-wide identification and transcriptional levels of DNA methyltransferases and demethylases in globe artichoke

Changes to the cytosine methylation status of DNA, driven by the activity of C5 methyltransferases (C5-MTases) and demethylases, exert an important influence over development, transposon movement, gene expression and imprinting. Three groups of C5-MTase enzymes have been identified in plants, namely MET (methyltransferase 1), CMT (chromomethyltransferases) and DRM (domains rearranged methyltran...

Complete Chloroplast Genome of the Multifunctional Crop Globe Artichoke and Comparison with Other Asteraceae

With over 20,000 species, Asteraceae is the second largest plant family. High-throughput sequencing of nuclear and chloroplast genomes has allowed for a better understanding of the evolutionary relationships within large plant families. Here, the globe artichoke chloroplast (cp) genome was obtained by a combination of whole-genome and BAC clone high-throughput sequencing. The artichoke cp genom...

Phenotyping, Genotyping, and Selections within Italian Local Landraces of Romanesco Globe Artichoke

Ten Italian globe artichoke clones belonging to the Romanesco typology were characterized in the western coastal area of Italy (Cerveteri, Rome), using a combination of morphological (UPOV descriptors), biochemical (HPLC analysis), and molecular (AFLP, ISSR, and SSR markers) traits. Significant differences among clones were found for many of the quantitative and qualitative morphological traits...
